Keep the night sky a pastime

Nothing under the dome is played for money. Habits still creep in like cold air, though, so this is how we handle them.

If gambling is doing you harm at the moment, phone the National Gambling Helpline free on 0808 8020 133, whatever the time, or talk things through online with GamCare.

Free under the stars, still only for over-18s

Because social casino games copy the look, the sound and the pace of real gambling, Fellside Observatory is intended for adults over the legal gambling age only and is not aimed at anyone under 18. Age is checked twice: on the banner shown when you arrive, and by a tick you must give to create an account.

Lines Ermyn will not cross

  • Offering real-money gambling, or promoting it, anywhere on the fell.
  • Offering prizes that hold real-world value.
  • Selling coins or adding in-app purchases to the dome.
  • Pointing anyone towards gambling operators or affiliates.
  • Using countdowns or streaks to pull you back up the fell.

Said plainly, by lantern light

Free games are easily tuned to seem generous, and this one refills your coin tin for nothing. No real-money game does either. Your results under the dome say nothing about how things would go with money at stake.

Clouds gathering: signs to heed

  • Watching the reels a good deal longer than intended.
  • Growing snappish when you stop.
  • Playing to climb out of a low mood.
  • It eats into your sleep, your work or the people you care about.
  • You start searching for a version played for money.

Keeping your own hand on the shutter crank

  • Decide how long the watch will last before you start.
  • Leave autoplay off and spin by hand.
  • Come down for tea at regular intervals.
  • Clear this site’s data to reset everything on the fell, or block the site in your device settings if you want to stop for good.

Free social casino play beneath the dome. Real-money gambling has no place here.

Only adults of 18 and over may play at Fellside Observatory. All spins use virtual coins of no monetary value, which cannot be bought, sold, withdrawn or exchanged. You will find no coin shop and no payment page from the stile to the dome, no prize of real-world value is ever offered, and success here does not imply future success at real-money gambling.
